Shipping by Rules for VirtueMart

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Integration with USPS, UPS & FedEx 05 Aug 2013 16:18 #1

Is the Advanced Shipping by Rules extension capable of integrating with other extensions to use actual rates for United States Post (USPS), UPS and FedEx? For example, if a customer were to order 3 products the Advanced Shipping by Rules extension would determine the total weight and box dimensions based on rules for that order, then send that information off to get actual shipping rates. Would it be the case that the order weight and box dimensions information generated by the Advanced Shipping extension would need to be passed to another extension that would then get the actual shipping rates from UPS (for example)?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Integration with USPS, UPS & FedEx 11 Aug 2013 13:10 #2

Sorry, the plugin does not integrate with any third party shipping providers. That's what dedicated shipping methods for USPS, UPS, FedEx etc. are for.
Calculating the order properties like weight or dimensions is really one of the more trivial tasks, so integrating my shipping by rules with those providers would not really bring any advantage over the dedicated shipping methods.

Best regards,
