IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

I have flat rate shipping price rules in place for all standard shipping items. Non-standard items are all fire arms such as handguns which must be shipped at a flat rate of $25 and long rifles that must be shipped at $35.

Some of my flat rate shipping rules for standard items conflict with handguns. Like a jacket that's $250 and a handgun that is $250. What rules could i instigate to hook handguns and rifles. I tried MinWeight but my standard flat rate shipping rule over ruled.

Thanks

** Edit **

I'm using category rules like this:

Name="FFL Information Required"; 11,16 in Categories; Shipping=35.00

and this is helping but the Flat rate standard option is stilling displaying on checkout for folks to choose.

Is there a rule that I can add to my flat rate shipping rules (see below) that say if in category 11 don't display flat rate option?

0<=Amount<25.00; Shipping=5.95
25.01<=Amount<50.00; Shipping=8.95
50.01<=Amount<75.00; Shipping=10.95
75.01<=Amount<100.00; Shipping=12.95
100.01<=Amount<150.00; Shipping=14.95
150.01<=Amount<200.00; Shipping=16.95
200.01<=Amount<300.00; Shipping=18.95
<300.01; Shipping=19.95

If I understand you correctly, you have set up two shipping methods: One flat-rate method (depending on Amount) for all orders without categories 11 and 16, and one method for the non-standard items.

Your problem now is that for non-standard items the flat rate is also offered. You can solve this by adding:
Comment="No flatrate for non-standard items"; Condition=contains_any(Categories, 11,16); NoShipping
to the top of you flat-rate rules.

Which shipping costs do you want for customers who order both standard and non-standard items?

Best regards,
Reinhold

"Which shipping costs do you want for customers who order both standard and non-standard items?"

Non-standard; as a firearm will trump any item in the basket.

Thanks for the reply much appreciated.

Then your rules together with the NoShipping rule should provide you with your desired result
