Advanced Ordernumbers for VirtueMart

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Hi,

I have just installed your plugin on my VM3 eshop that has been migrated from VM2 and I would like to know how could I setup your plugin to continue in numbering from the previous orders. The previous system was YYYYNNNN so e.g. 20150012, but your plugin gives me numbers like: 20151111-1 for the first order after the plugin installation...

Please advise how to fix the settings...

Do you already have an order with number 20151111in your database? VirtueMart then automatically appends another running number (in VM2 it was even worse: It appended the current date+time!).
This is done by VirtueMart itself.

One reason to have duplicate numbers is if you try to reset the counter after a few test orders and did not completely remove all invoice information for those test order. In particular, you also need to remove the entries from the invoices database table (just removing the orders will NOT suffice, as the invoice information will not be removed from the invoices table in the database). That can only be done in the database...

Best regards,
Reinhold

Hi,

Yes, order with number 20151111 has already been in the database, but the last number before installing your plugin was 20151212. So how come the plugin started with 1 ? how do I have to configure it in the settings?

what should it look like now? and what database table should be updated? I do not want to delete the orders. I will have tu run the migration import of orders again before I launch the redesigned website

Hi,
1) The number format 2015#### means that the counter is inserted FOUR times (each # is replaced by the counter!) I suppose you really want the format 2015# with a counter padding of 4.
2) The plugin starts every counter at 1 by default.
3) You can change the counter value for the counter 2015# in the table below. Simply set it to the last value (1212 in your case).

Best regards,
Reinhold
