In the shipping method configuration, in the first tab "Shipment Method Information", simply change the shipping type from the basic plugin to the advanced plugin. Since both plugins have the same configuration variables, all your rules will be preserved and used by the advanced plugin (and rules that work with the basic plugin will always work with the advanced plugin, but not neccessarly the other way round).

However, it is always a good idea to copy all rules in a text file stored on your computer as a backup. That way you can easily restore you rules, if you e.g. accidentally delete them or make a wrong change that does not work.
